KGA Life History

Cape Group Scheme Advisors (Pty) Ltd was established as an insurance brokerage on 1 May 1986, focusing mainly on managing pension funds and providing financial services to the pension fund members.

After successfully designing a voluntary funeral scheme for members of a church institution, we were approached by a leading insurer to undertake their group funeral scheme administration. This resulted in the establishment of the first funeral insurance administrator in South Africa.

The years of valuable experience and the ability to settle claims within 24 hours gave us an advantage in the market and lead us to register as an insurance company. Thus KGA Life Limited was established on 1 January 1999. The acronym KGA as we are fondly known as, came from the Afrikaans version of our company name: Kaapse Groepskema Adviseurs.

We are proud to say that funeral group schemes constitute the very foundation of our existence. Today, approximately 60% of our claims are paid within eight hours! This achievement has contributed much to our organisation's strong growth over the years.

We have branches in the Free State, Gauteng, KwaZulu Natal, the Eastern Cape and the Western Cape, providing cover to approximately 850,000 lives. Over the years we have established ourselves in the voluntary group scheme market and have recently introduced new and innovative products in the corporate and individual markets.
